Housing Hilltop is the Tacoma Housing Authority’s (THA) largest affordable housing development since New Salishan, bringing new housing and neighborhood-serving retail to the Hilltop community. The project includes 231 affordable housing units and 13,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, supporting a vibrant, mixed-use environment. The development also incorporates policies that prioritize opportunities for households displaced from Hilltop to return.

The project is supported by $1.9 million from the City of Tacoma and $3 million in federal funding secured by Congressman Derek Kilmer and Senator Maria Cantwell. Federal funding helps deliver the commercial spaces, including approximately $1 million dedicated to assisting BIPOC-owned businesses with tenant improvements, transforming unfinished spaces into operational storefronts.
