Our Story
Since 1996, HV Engineering (HVE) has provided high-quality mechanical and plumbing consulting services throughout the Pacific Northwest. In 2025, we added electrical engineering to our services with the acquisition of Summit Professional Engineering, making us a full MEP design firm.
Located in Mountlake Terrace, WA, just outside of Seattle, HVE specializes in designing practical, efficient, and dependable engineering solutions for commercial, residential, and institutional projects. We take pride in designing buildable systems that perform with precision, efficiency, and integrity. We serve clients throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Steve Bloedel
President
With more than 25 years of experience in the consulting engineering industry, Stephen Bloedel serves as Principal and President of HV Engineering, providing leadership, strategic direction, and technical oversight for the firm’s mechanical, plumbing, and electrical engineering services.
Throughout his career, Steve has built a reputation for delivering practical, cost-effective, and constructable engineering solutions across a diverse range of project types. Steve is recognized for his collaborative approach and strong relationships with owners, architects, contractors, and developers throughout the Pacific Northwest. Having worked closely with construction teams for decades, he brings a unique understanding of real-world construction challenges and emphasizes designs that are economical to build, easy to maintain, and aligned with project budgets and schedules.
Steve is actively involved in business development, client relationships, project strategy, and mentoring the next generation of engineers and designers. Under his leadership, HVE has grown into a trusted engineering partner known for responsive service, open communication, technical excellence, and a commitment to helping clients successfully deliver their projects.
Brian Roetcisoender, PE, LEED® AP
Vice President
Brian brings more than 30 years of mechanical engineering expertise across a broad spectrum of project types, from commercial and municipal facilities to hospitals, laboratories, and industrial plants.
Known for his depth of technical knowledge, Brian specializes in complex HVAC, plumbing, and process piping systems — including hazardous material environments and energy-critical facilities. His disciplined, solutions-driven approach ensures reliable, efficient designs for even the most challenging projects.
Dustin “DJ” Johnson
Director of Operations
DJ combines hands-on construction experience with nearly two decades of MEP design and consulting expertise. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Sustainable Building Science Technology from South Seattle College, providing a strong foundation in building science, energy efficiency, sustainable design, and building systems.
Specializing in plumbing and HVAC systems, DJ delivers practical, cost-effective solutions across commercial, multifamily, education, healthcare, and government projects. His focus on optimizing system performance, constructability, and lifecycle costs, combined with expertise in sustainability and evolving energy codes, results in designs that provide lasting value for clients.
