July 28, 2026 — When HVE was founded in 1996, the goal was straightforward: design building systems that work well and support the people behind every project.

Over the years, our projects have grown in complexity, our capabilities have expanded, and the construction and engineering industry has continued to evolve. From HVAC and plumbing system design to BIM coordination and sustainable building solutions, HVE has continued to adapt alongside the needs of our clients and project partners.

What has not changed is our approach.

For nearly three decades, HVE has remained committed to quality engineering, practical solutions, and strong working relationships. Those principles continue to guide the way we design, coordinate, and support projects today.

As the company has evolved, we felt it was time for our brand to evolve as well. Today, we are proud to introduce HVE’s new logo and website.

While the look is new, the foundation of the company remains the same. This rebrand is not about changing who we are,  it is about better representing the company HVE has become.

HV Engineering is proud to have provided the mechanical and plumbing engineering for Heartwood, a pioneering mass timber workforce housing development in Seattle.

As the first Type IV-C mass timber building in North America, this eight-story project sets a new standard for sustainable urban housing. Located in Capitol Hill, Heartwood delivers 126 affordable homes for middle-income residents while significantly reducing embodied carbon through the use of CLT and glulam construction.

Projects like this represent the future of our industry — combining thoughtful design, innovative construction methods, and a commitment to sustainability. We’re honored to have contributed to a project that not only advances mass timber construction, but also helps address the growing need for housing in our communities.

October 1, 2024 — We are pleased to announce that Stephen Bloedel is assuming the position of President of HV Engineering, Inc.  Steve has been an integral part of the growth of HVE over the past 20 years, providing excellent design services as well as developing relationships with clients whom we now consider part of the HVE family. At the same time, Brian Roetcisoender continues with HVE in the position of Vice President, giving him the opportunity to focus on engineering and design as changes to the industry are driven by climate change and economic realities. With Steve and Brian continuing a long and productive partnership, we are excited at what the future holds for HVE.

Dustin Johnson joined the ownership team at HVE at the beginning of 2024. He has been with HVE for 8 years and is an essential part of our design team, shouldering much of the project management effort.
